Which Sherlock Holmes address is used for Dr. House’s apartment in House M.D.?

Dr. House’s apartment address in House M.D. is 221B Baker Street.

The address is a direct reference to 221B Baker Street, the fictional London home of Sherlock Holmes in Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective stories. House is modeled in part on Holmes, and the address makes that literary connection explicit.

Other parallels include House’s exceptional deductive reasoning, his drug dependence, his musical ability, and his close friendship with James Wilson. Wilson’s name also echoes Dr. John Watson, Holmes’s companion and narrator.

The reference is sometimes overlooked because the series is set in New Jersey rather than London. House’s apartment is located in the fictional world of the show, while 221B Baker Street belongs to Holmes’s fictional London. The shared address is an intentional character clue, not a claim that House lives in England.
