Which sea contains the lowest exposed land point on Earth?

The story behind the answer

The Dead Sea contains the lowest exposed land point on Earth.

Its shoreline lies roughly 430 metres below mean sea level, although the exact elevation changes as the water level falls. The Dead Sea is a salt lake bordered by Jordan to the east and Israel and the West Bank to the west.

The lake has no outlet. Water flows into it mainly from the Jordan River and evaporates in the hot, dry climate, leaving dissolved minerals behind. This process produces a salinity many times greater than that of ordinary seawater, making most aquatic life unable to survive there.

The name “Dead Sea” refers to the lack of visible fish and other large aquatic organisms, not to a complete absence of life. Microorganisms can live in its extreme conditions. The Caspian Sea is the world’s largest inland body of water, but it is not the location of Earth’s lowest exposed land.
