Hull City beat Manchester United 2–0 during the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match took place on Saturday 22 August 2026 at Hull City’s MKM Stadium. It was the first Saturday lunchtime fixture of the campaign and one of the most eye-catching results of the opening round.
Hull were newly promoted to the Premier League after winning the Championship play-off final. Their return to the top division therefore began with a home victory over one of English football’s most famous clubs. Manchester United, by contrast, started the season with no points and a two-goal deficit.
Hull City were one of three promoted teams in the division, with Coventry City and Ipswich Town joining them. Ipswich also won on the opening weekend, defeating Sunderland 2–1, while Coventry lost 3–0 away to Arsenal.
