Which Saudi body is listed as announcing official Eid al-Adha dates?

The story behind the answer

The Supreme Judicial Council is listed as announcing Saudi Arabia’s official Eid al-Adha dates.

Saudi Arabia determines Eid al-Adha as the 10th day of Dhu’l-Hijja, the final month of the Islamic calendar. The date follows the beginning of Hajj and depends on confirmation of the lunar month through moon-sighting procedures.

The council is easy to confuse with Saudi Arabia’s Shura Council or Council of Ministers. Those are important state institutions, but they are not the body identified in the cited Eid al-Adha date listings. The Saudi Central Bank is a financial institution and has no role in announcing the religious calendar.

Eid al-Adha is observed for four days, beginning on 10 Dhu’l-Hijja and continuing through the three Tashreeq days. Because lunar-month beginnings can differ between countries, Muslims elsewhere may celebrate on a different Gregorian date.
