Which Roman poet’s work helped preserve a version of the Pandora story through the figure of Pyrrha?

The story behind the answer

Ovid helped preserve a related version of the Pandora story through the figure of Pyrrha.

In Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Pyrrha is the daughter of Pandora and Epimetheus and the wife of Deucalion. Ovid’s account focuses on the great flood sent by Jupiter and the survival of Deucalion and Pyrrha, rather than retelling the jar episode in full.

This creates a common mix-up: Greek and Roman traditions use overlapping names and stories, but Ovid’s Pyrrha is not simply another name for Pandora. The genealogical link places her in the same mythic family, while the flood narrative gives her a separate role in the renewal of humankind.
