Which rocket carried a Tesla Roadster on the first Falcon Heavy launch?

The story behind the answer

Falcon Heavy carried a Tesla Roadster on its first launch.

SpaceX launched the Falcon Heavy demonstration flight from Kennedy Space Center on 6 February 2018. Instead of a conventional mass simulator, the rocket carried a red Tesla Roadster with a mannequin called Starman in the driver’s seat.

The vehicle was sent into a heliocentric orbit that crosses the paths of Earth and Mars. Falcon Heavy combined three Falcon 9-derived core stages, giving it 27 Merlin engines at liftoff.

The Roadster was a demonstration payload, not a spacecraft intended to explore Mars. The launch also successfully landed two of the three first-stage boosters; the center core missed its drone-ship landing.
