Which rider holds the record for most MotoGP race wins?
Answer
Valentino Rossi
Answer
Valentino Rossi
Valentino Rossi holds the record for the most premier-class MotoGP race wins.
Rossi accumulated 89 victories in the premier class, counting both the 500cc era and the MotoGP era. He won his first premier-class race at Donington Park in 2000 and continued winning after the championship changed from 500cc machines to four-stroke MotoGP bikes in 2002.
The wording can cause confusion because “MotoGP race wins” is sometimes used narrowly for the post-2002 class, while historical records often group the premier class across both eras. Rossi remains the leading rider under that combined premier-class comparison. Giacomo Agostini’s 68 premier-class wins are also sometimes cited, but they do not exceed Rossi’s total.
Rossi’s career record is separate from his nine World Championships and from his 115 Grand Prix victories across every class. Those broader figures include wins outside the premier category.
