A Mass may be included in a Catholic quinceañera.
Many Catholic families begin or accompany the celebration with a special Mass, sometimes called a quinceañera Mass. During it, the young woman may give thanks, receive a blessing, and be presented before the congregation. The exact prayers, music, and participation depend on the parish and local Catholic practice.
A Mass is not a universal requirement for every quinceañera. The tradition is also celebrated by non-Catholic families and by families who choose a civil or purely social event. Even among Catholics, a parish may have its own preparation rules and expectations.
The religious service should not be confused with a baptism, confirmation, or wedding. A quinceañera Mass is associated with the fifteenth-birthday celebration and does not replace those sacraments. The party afterward may include dancing, food, speeches, and other family customs.
