Kanto is the setting of Pokémon's Generation I games.
The original games introduce players to the Kanto region, where they travel between towns, routes, caves, forests, and the Pokémon League. The region is home to the first 151 Pokémon and includes landmarks such as Viridian Forest, Mt. Moon, and the Indigo Plateau.
Kanto's design is based broadly on the real Kantō region of Japan. Several later games revisited it, including Pokémon Yellow, Pokémon FireRed, Pokémon LeafGreen, and Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!
Kanto is sometimes confused with Johto because the two regions appear together in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Johto belongs to Generation II, while Kanto is the original Generation I region.
