The Alola region hosted the Pokémon League that Ash won in 2019.
Ash became the champion of the Manalo Conference, the Pokémon League competition held in Alola. He defeated Gladion in the final, earning his first major regional Pokémon League championship after years of traveling and competing.
The victory occurred during the Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon storyline. Alola differs from earlier regions because its island challenge system and Trials are central parts of the journey. The region is inspired by Hawaii and includes four main islands plus the artificial island of Aether Paradise.
Fans sometimes confuse this achievement with Ash’s later world championship. In 2019, the Alola victory was his first regional Pokémon League title. He later became the winner of the World Coronation Series in 2022, a separate global competition involving Trainers from multiple regions.
