Which reggae band released the 1978 album 'Handsworth Revolution'?

The story behind the answer

The reggae band that released the 1978 album “Handsworth Revolution” was Steel Pulse.

The album was Steel Pulse’s debut and was released by Island Records in July 1978. Its title refers to Handsworth, the Birmingham district where the band formed, making the record both a musical introduction and a statement of local identity. Producer Karl Pitterson had also worked with prominent Jamaican artists including Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh.

The album helped establish British roots reggae internationally. Its songs addressed racism, oppression and Black British experience; “Ku Klux Klan” was especially notable for its anti-racist message. The record reached No. 9 on the UK albums chart, and Steel Pulse later supported Bob Marley and the Wailers on a 12-date European tour in 1978. A common mix-up is confusing the album with work by Aswad or Third World, other major reggae acts of the era, but neither released this title.
