Which reggae artist released the 1982 album 'Night Nurse'?
Answer
Gregory Isaacs
Answer
Gregory Isaacs
The reggae artist who released the 1982 album Night Nurse was Gregory Isaacs.
Night Nurse was Isaacs’ breakthrough album for the Island/Mango label and one of the best-known releases by the Jamaican singer nicknamed the “Cool Ruler.” Its title track became his signature song, combining a smooth lovers-rock vocal approach with a firm, modern reggae rhythm. The album was produced by Isaacs and bassist Errol “Flabba” Holt.
Much of the backing came from the Roots Radics, including Holt on bass, Lincoln “Style” Scott on drums, Dwight “Brother Dee” Pinkney on guitar, and Eric “Bingy Bunny” Lamont on rhythm guitar. Wally Badarou added synthesizer, while mixing was completed at Compass Point Studios in Nassau.
The album was recorded at Tuff Gong in Kingston and reached No. 32 on the UK Albums Chart. A common mix-up is confusing the album with the later 1997 cover of its title song by Sly and Robbie featuring Simply Red. That version became a UK hit, but Gregory Isaacs originated the album and its celebrated recording.
