Which R&B trio released the 1990 album Poison? Bell Biv DeVoe released it.

Poison was Bell Biv DeVoe’s debut studio album, issued by MCA Records on March 20, 1990. The group consisted of Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe, all formerly of New Edition. Their sound blended R&B, hip-hop, funk, and the emerging style known as new jack swing.

The title track became the trio’s signature hit, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album itself peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and topped Billboard’s R&B albums chart. Its combination of programmed beats, rap-influenced vocals, and polished harmonies helped define early-1990s crossover R&B.

A common mix-up is confusing Bell Biv DeVoe with New Edition, the group from which all three members came. Tony! Toni! Toné!, Dru Hill, and Jodeci were also important R&B acts, but none released the 1990 album Poison.
