Which R&B singer released the 1994 debut album "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number"?

The story behind the answer

The R&B singer who released the 1994 debut album "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number" was Aaliyah.

Released on May 24, 1994, the album introduced Aaliyah as a major young voice in contemporary R&B. It came out through Blackground and Jive Records after her uncle Barry Hankerson signed her to Blackground and arranged a distribution deal with Jive. Aaliyah recorded much of the project while she was still a teenager.

R. Kelly served as the album's sole songwriter and producer, and the sessions took place at Chicago Recording Company from 1993 into early 1994. The album blended R&B, new jack swing and pop influences, establishing the smooth, understated vocal style that would develop further on her later releases.

The album's lead single, "Back & Forth," reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The album itself peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum in the United States. It is Aaliyah's debut album, not the title of a different singer's release.
