Answer
The Emotions
Answer
The Emotions
The Emotions had a number-one hit with the 1977 song “Best of My Love.”
Released as the lead single from their album “Rejoice,” the song was written by Maurice White and Al McKay of Earth, Wind & Fire. White also produced it, helping combine the Emotions’ gospel-rooted harmonies with a bright disco, soul, and funk arrangement.
“Best of My Love” reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for five non-consecutive weeks and also topped the R&B chart. It became one of the defining crossover hits of 1977, eventually earning Platinum certification in the United States.
The song is sometimes mistakenly attributed to Earth, Wind & Fire because members of that band were deeply involved in its creation. However, the performing group was The Emotions, a Chicago vocal group whose career began in the 1960s. The recording won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and also received an American Music Award.
