The rapper who collaborated with Bruno Mars on the remix of “Finesse” was Cardi B.
“Finesse” originally appeared on Mars’s third studio album, 24K Magic, released in 2016. Atlantic Records issued a remix featuring Cardi B on January 4, 2018, adding new rap verses and turning the track into a prominent collaboration between two major stars.
The remix’s music video paid tribute to the 1990s sketch-comedy show In Living Color, especially its colorful costumes, energetic choreography, and dance-show presentation. That visual concept helped make the release feel like a full retro revival rather than simply a revised recording.
Musically, “Finesse” draws on new jack swing, hip-hop soul, and funk. Critics compared its sound to late-1980s and early-1990s artists such as Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe. The remix reached No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It is sometimes confused with Mars’s solo album version, which does not feature Cardi B.
