Which prophet was the son of Prophet Dawud (David)?

Sulayman was the prophet and son of Prophet Dawud (David). Islamic tradition identifies Sulayman ibn Dawud as both a prophet and a ruler of the Israelites, continuing the religious and royal authority associated with his father.

The Qur’an presents Dawud and Sulayman together as recipients of divine wisdom and knowledge. Dawud is also described as receiving the Zabur, or Psalms, while Sulayman is remembered for extraordinary gifts, including authority over the wind and jinn and the ability to understand the speech of animals. These gifts are presented as blessings from God, not as independent magical powers.

A frequent mistake is to confuse Sulayman with Yusuf, Ya'qub, or Ishaq. Yusuf was the son of Ya'qub; Ya'qub was the son of Ishaq; and Ishaq was the son of Ibrahim. Sulayman belongs to a later Israelite prophetic and royal line. Islamic accounts also highlight his wise judgment, including the Qur’anic episode in which he and Dawud considered a dispute involving damaged farmland.
