Joe Alwyn completed the credited production trio behind Taylor Swift’s “august,” alongside Swift and Jack Antonoff.
The song’s credits list Swift, Antonoff, and Alwyn as producers. Alwyn worked under the pseudonym William Bowery on several Folklore and Evermore contributions, but the “august” article credits him by his professional name as a producer.
Antonoff created the initial instrumental, while Swift wrote the lyrics after receiving it. The finished recording combines their songwriting and production work with Alwyn’s credited contribution.
Aaron Dessner is an especially plausible wrong answer because he was one of Folklore’s principal collaborators and produced many songs on the album. However, he is not listed among the producers of “august.”
