The album’s other notable songs include “Delirious,” “Automatic,” “Let’s Pretend We’re Married,” and “International Lover.”
“1999” became Prince’s first top-10 album on the Billboard 200, peaking at number nine. Its music videos also helped Prince receive heavy rotation on MTV, an important step in bringing a Black pop artist to a broad national audience.
