Which Porsche model is a four-door luxury saloon introduced in 2009?

The Porsche Panamera is the four-door luxury saloon introduced in 2009. It brought Porsche into a larger, more practical luxury-car class while retaining the brand’s performance focus.

The first-generation Panamera debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2009, with production beginning that year at Porsche’s Leipzig plant. It was a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive hatchback-style saloon with seating for four, rather than a conventional three-box sedan.

Initial versions included the V8-powered Panamera S, Panamera 4S and Panamera Turbo. V6 models followed in 2010, while hybrid and diesel versions joined the range in 2011. The name Panamera comes from the Carrera Panamericana road race.

The Panamera is sometimes confused with the Cayenne because both are four-door Porsche models assembled in Leipzig and both expanded the company beyond two-door sports cars. The Taycan is also a four-door Porsche, but it is the brand’s battery-electric model and arrived a decade later.
