Which polar circle is located at about 66.5 degrees north latitude?

The story behind the answer

The polar circle located at about 66.5 degrees north latitude is the Arctic Circle.

The Arctic Circle is a line of latitude encircling the Northern Hemisphere. Its position is approximately 66°34′N, though it shifts slowly because Earth’s axial tilt changes over time. Its southern counterpart is the Antarctic Circle, located at about 66.5°S.

The circle marks an important daylight boundary. At least once each year, locations north of it experience a full day when the Sun does not set and a full day when the Sun does not rise. These events are commonly called the midnight sun and polar night.

The Arctic Circle crosses parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, the United States through Alaska, Canada, Denmark through Greenland, and Iceland’s island of Grímsey. It is not the boundary of the Arctic Ocean itself, nor does it mean every place on the line has a permanently frozen climate.
