Omega Force is the Koei Tecmo studio that co-developed Pokémon Pokopia and is known for work on Dragon Quest Builders 2.
Game Freak partnered with Omega Force because Game Freak wanted additional experience in the sandbox genre. Omega Force had previously worked on Dragon Quest Builders 2, a construction-focused game that helped make the studio a suitable collaborator for Pokopia’s building and world-shaping systems.
The partnership is notable because Pokémon Pokopia differs from Game Freak’s usual role-playing-game format. Its emphasis on crafting, habitat design, environmental restoration, and social simulation required a development background beyond traditional turn-based Pokémon adventures.
Omega Force is one of Koei Tecmo’s major development teams, but it should not be confused with Team Ninja, another Koei Tecmo studio. Pokopia’s listed co-developers are Game Freak and Omega Force.
