Which Pokémon Nintendo 64 game featured 3D battles with the original Pokémon?

The story behind the answer

Pokémon Stadium was the Nintendo 64 game that featured 3D battles with the original Pokémon.

The Japanese version, Pocket Monsters Stadium, was released in 1998 and focused on turn-based battles rendered in three dimensions. It featured 40 of the 151 Pokémon from the original Game Boy games.

A later version released in Japan and internationally included all 151 original Pokémon and became the better-known Pokémon Stadium release outside Japan. Players could also connect compatible Game Boy games through the Nintendo 64 Transfer Pak.

Pokémon Snap is sometimes confused with Stadium because both are Nintendo 64 spin-offs from the same era. Snap is a photography game, whereas Stadium is centered on battle arenas, tournament modes, and 3D presentations of Pokémon fights.
