Which Pokémon games were the first main-series releases for a home console?

The story behind the answer

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! were the first main-series Pokémon releases for a home console.

The games launched worldwide for Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018. Earlier Pokémon main-series entries had been designed for Nintendo handheld systems, while console Pokémon titles such as Pokémon Stadium were spin-offs rather than main-series adventures.

Let’s Go is based on Pokémon Yellow and returns players to the Kanto region. Pikachu or Eevee accompanies the player, and the games incorporate elements from the Pokémon animated series. Their wild-Pokémon catching system also draws on Pokémon Go, using a throwing motion rather than the traditional battle-first capture process.

The games include the original 151 Pokémon, along with selected Mega Evolutions and Alolan Forms. They also connect with Pokémon Go and support the Poké Ball Plus accessory. Their release established the Nintendo Switch as a home-console platform for the main Pokémon RPG line.
