Which PlayStation console originally received God of War II?

God of War II originally released on PlayStation 2. Sony Computer Entertainment launched the sequel in North America in March 2007, following the success of the 2005 original game on the same console.

The game continues Kratos’s Greek-mythology story after he becomes the new God of War. Zeus betrays him, and Kratos seeks help from the Titans and the Sisters of Fate to change the course of his downfall. Its scale and visual effects pushed the PlayStation 2 hardware late in the console’s life.

Later collections brought God of War II to newer PlayStation hardware, including the God of War Collection on PlayStation 3. Those later versions do not change its original platform. The game’s initial home was the PlayStation 2, not the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable.
