Which player won his first ATP Masters 1000 title at the 2026 Cincinnati Open?

The story behind the answer

Arthur Fils won his first ATP Masters 1000 title at the 2026 Cincinnati Open.

The Frenchman defeated Frances Tiafoe in the final, recovering from a second-set loss to win 6–3, 1–6, 6–0. The victory was Fils’s first championship at the Masters 1000 level, one of the most prestigious tiers of men’s professional tennis below the four Grand Slam tournaments.

Fils’s route to the title included wins over Thiago Agustín Tirante, Flavio Cobolli and Tiafoe. He entered the event as the 21st seed and became the Cincinnati men’s champion on August 23.

This achievement should not be confused with winning a regular ATP Tour title. A Masters 1000 trophy carries a larger draw, more ranking points and greater event status than an ATP 250 or ATP 500 championship.
