Stephen Curry passed Ray Allen in 2021 to become the NBA’s career three-point leader.
Curry broke Allen’s regular-season record on 14 December 2021 at Madison Square Garden. His 2,974th career three-pointer came during Golden State’s game against the New York Knicks, moving him beyond Allen’s total of 2,973 regular-season threes.
The achievement capped a rapid climb up the league’s shooting records. Curry had already passed Reggie Miller for second place earlier in 2021, and his high-volume shooting, range, and efficiency made him the natural successor to Allen, who had held the regular-season record since 2011.
Some accounts use slightly different totals because they combine regular-season and playoff three-pointers, while the NBA’s standard career leaderboard separates those categories. In either framing, Ray Allen is the player Curry overtook for the landmark regular-season record in 2021.
