Which platform first received Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team?

The story behind the answer

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team first appeared on the Game Boy Advance.

Released alongside Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team in Japan in 2005, Red Rescue Team was designed for Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance, while Blue Rescue Team was made for the Nintendo DS. The two games shared the Rescue Team premise but used different hardware.

The series changed the player’s role: instead of controlling a human Trainer who catches Pokémon, the player becomes a Pokémon after a personality test. Gameplay uses randomly generated dungeons, turn-based movement, missions, items, and recruitable teammates.

The paired platform release is an important detail because the titles are often discussed together as one debut. Red Rescue Team reached the Game Boy Advance, whereas Blue Rescue Team used the Nintendo DS and its second screen. Both versions later inspired the remake Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX for Nintendo Switch.
