Which planned operation was intended to invade Honshu near Tokyo after Operation Olympic?

The story behind the answer

Operation Coronet was the planned invasion of Honshu near Tokyo after Operation Olympic.

Coronet was the second major phase of Operation Downfall. Its proposed landing area was the Kantō Plain, south and east of Tokyo, on Japan’s largest main island, Honshu. The operation was tentatively scheduled for 1 March 1946.

The plan envisioned a very large force. Initial operations involved landings around Sagami Bay and the Bōsō Peninsula, followed by advances toward Tokyo and inland areas. Coronet was expected to be larger than Olympic and required extensive American and planned Commonwealth participation.

Japan’s surrender in August 1945 meant that Coronet never occurred. A common mix-up is to call Coronet the entire invasion plan; Downfall was the overall operation, Olympic was the Kyushu phase, and Coronet was the planned Honshu phase.
