Which planned Allied operation would have invaded southern Kyūshū in November 1945?

The story behind the answer

Operation Olympic was the planned Allied invasion of southern Kyūshū in November 1945.

Olympic formed the first phase of Operation Downfall, the larger plan for invading Japan. The objective was to seize beachheads and airfields in southern Kyūshū, Japan’s southernmost main island, so Allied forces could support a later attack near Tokyo.

The planned landing date was 1 November 1945. The U.S. Sixth Army was assigned the operation, with major landings planned along Kyūshū’s southern and eastern coasts. Japanese planners anticipated an invasion and prepared defenses under Operation Ketsugō.

Olympic was canceled when Japan accepted the Allied surrender terms in August 1945. It is sometimes mistaken for Operation Coronet, but Coronet was the second planned phase, aimed at the Kantō Plain on Honshū. Neither operation took place.
