Which Pixar Cars sequel was directed by Brian Fee?

The story behind the answer

Cars 3 was directed by Brian Fee.

Fee made his feature-directing debut with Cars 3, released in 2017. Before directing, he worked as a storyboard artist at Pixar and contributed to films including Cars and Cars 2.

The story centers on Lightning McQueen's struggle against faster next-generation racers. After a serious crash, he trains with Cruz Ramirez and learns to adapt both his racing technique and his understanding of mentorship.

John Lasseter directed the original Cars and co-directed Cars 2 with Brad Lewis. Brian Fee therefore became the first director of a Cars feature who had not directed one of the earlier two films.
