Cars 2 features a spy adventure and international races.
Released in 2011, the film follows Mater after he is mistaken for an American secret agent. Lightning McQueen competes in the World Grand Prix, while Mater becomes involved in an international espionage plot.
The story visits locations including Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London. It introduces spy-car characters Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell, alongside a plot involving an alternative fuel called Allinol.
Cars 2 differs notably from the first film because Mater has a much larger role and the action extends beyond Radiator Springs. Cars 3 later returned to a more racing-focused and character-driven story.
