Which Overwatch hero was reworked from damage to tank for Overwatch 2?

The story behind the answer

Doomfist was reworked from a damage hero into a tank for Overwatch 2.

In the original Overwatch, Doomfist was classified as a damage hero. His design centered on aggressive close-range combos built around Rocket Punch, Seismic Slam, Rising Uppercut, and Meteor Strike. The character’s mobility and burst damage made him a highly offensive flanker rather than a traditional front-line protector.

For Overwatch 2, Blizzard changed his role to tank to fit the sequel’s five-versus-five format. He received more health and defensive utility, while Rising Uppercut was removed and replaced by Power Block, which absorbs frontal damage. His offensive abilities were adjusted so he could still initiate fights without functioning exactly like his former damage-role version.

Doomfist is sometimes confused with Orisa because both received major reworks for Overwatch 2. They changed in opposite ways: Doomfist moved between roles, while Orisa stayed a tank but had much of her kit rebuilt. The name also refers both to the hero and to the powerful cybernetic gauntlet he wields.
