The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, abbreviated IFPI, named Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl Global Album of the Year.
IFPI is the international organization representing the recorded-music industry. Its global awards recognize worldwide recorded-music performance, using international data rather than the results of a single national chart.
The Life of a Showgirl received several IFPI honors in 2026, including Global Album of the Year, Global Sales Album of the Year, and Global Vinyl Album of the Year. These are distinct from awards presented by the Recording Academy, Billboard, or national music organizations.
The award is also different from a chart position. A chart ranks releases in a particular market and time period, while an IFPI global award evaluates international performance across markets. That worldwide scope makes the organization’s name the key fact in this question.
