Which one-time Texas Rangers player was nicknamed "Pudge"?

Ivan Rodriguez was the one-time Texas Rangers player nicknamed “Pudge.” The Puerto Rican catcher, whose full name is Iván Rodríguez Torres, spent much of his 21-season Major League Baseball career with Texas and became one of the most celebrated defensive catchers in the sport.

Rodríguez made his Rangers debut in 1991 at age 19 after being called up directly from Double-A. He quickly became known for his powerful throwing arm, lightning-fast release and ability to control the running game. Although “Pudge” was his best-known nickname, fans and broadcasters also called him “I-Rod.”

He won the American League Most Valuable Player Award in 1999, helping Texas reach the playoffs. Rodríguez later played for the Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, Houston Astros and Washington Nationals. He won the 2003 World Series with Florida and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017. The Rangers retired his number 7 in 2017.
