Which Oklahoma state capital replaced Guthrie as the seat of government in 1910?
Answer
Oklahoma City
Answer
Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City replaced Guthrie as Oklahoma’s capital in 1910.
Oklahoma City was founded during the Land Run of 1889, when formerly unassigned lands were opened to settlers. It grew rapidly because of its central location and expanding railroad connections.
When Oklahoma entered the Union in 1907, Guthrie initially served as the capital. Oklahoma voters later approved moving the capital, and state officials transferred the government to Oklahoma City in 1910.
Oklahoma City is both the state capital and its largest city. It is often confused with Tulsa, the second-largest city and an important center of energy, business, and culture. The capital’s metropolitan area is also one of the largest in the Great Plains.
