Which ocean contains Point Nemo, the location farthest from any land?

The story behind the answer

The Pacific Ocean contains Point Nemo, the location farthest from any land.

Point Nemo is the oceanic pole of inaccessibility, the point in the ocean most distant from land. It lies in the South Pacific at approximately 48°52.6′S, 123°23.6′W, about 2,688 kilometres from the nearest land in several directions. The point is named after Captain Nemo, the fictional submarine commander in Jules Verne’s novels.

The nearest land features are Ducie Island, part of the Pitcairn Islands, Motu Nui near Easter Island, and Maher Island off Antarctica. Because the surrounding ocean is extremely remote, the area has been used as a controlled re-entry zone for some spacecraft and space hardware. Point Nemo is not an island or a permanent marker; it is a calculated geographic position whose exact coordinates depend on the land boundaries and measurement method used.
