Which Norse god carried the hammer Mjölnir in Viking mythology?

The story behind the answer

In Viking mythology, Thor was the Norse god who carried the hammer Mjölnir.

Thor is one of the most prominent gods in the surviving Norse mythological tradition. He is associated with thunder, storms, strength, protection, and the defense of the gods and humans. His weapon, Mjölnir, was made by the dwarf brothers Sindri and Brokkr in one famous myth and was said to return to Thor after being thrown.

Thor is frequently described as travelling in a chariot drawn by goats. He also owns iron gloves and a belt that increases his strength. In myth, he uses Mjölnir against giants and other threats, while the hammer also has a role in blessing ceremonies and marriages.

Thor should not be confused with Odin, who is associated with wisdom, poetry, kingship, and war. Týr is linked with law and courage, while Freyr is connected with fertility and prosperity. Mjölnir pendants were worn in the Viking Age, possibly as symbols of identity or protection.
