Which Nobel Prize winner was the first person to receive two Nobel Prizes?

The story behind the answer

Marie Curie was the first person to receive two Nobel Prizes.

Curie won the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics with Pierre Curie and Henri Becquerel for work on radioactivity. In 1911, she received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering the elements polonium and radium, isolating radium, and studying its properties.

She remains the only person to win Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields. Her first award was shared, while her second was awarded to her alone. She became the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize and the first woman to teach at the University of Paris.

Linus Pauling, John Bardeen, and Frederick Sanger also won two Nobel Prizes, but all did so after Curie. Curie’s research later influenced medical radiography and the development of radiation-based treatments.
