Which Nintendo racing game introduced the character Captain Falcon?

The story behind the answer

F-Zero introduced the character Captain Falcon.

Nintendo released the original F-Zero for the Super Famicom in Japan in 1990 and later for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in other regions. Captain Falcon appears as one of the game’s selectable racers and became the most recognizable figure associated with the futuristic racing series.

The game is set in the year 2560 and features high-speed hovercraft racing on hazardous tracks. Captain Falcon pilots the Blue Falcon, while other racers use machines such as the Fire Stingray, Wild Goose, and Golden Fox.

Captain Falcon later became especially well known through Super Smash Bros., where he is a playable fighter. F-Zero X, released for Nintendo 64 in 1998, expanded the original concept with fully three-dimensional tracks and larger races.
