Pokémon Stadium was released for the Nintendo 64.
The game launched in Japan in 1999 and later arrived in North America and Europe in 2000. It presented Pokémon battles in fully rendered 3D arenas, a major visual change from the sprite-based battles of the Game Boy titles.
Pokémon Stadium connected with Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow through the Nintendo 64 Transfer Pak. This allowed players to use compatible Pokémon from their Game Boy cartridges in Stadium's battle modes.
The Nintendo 64 version was released in Japan as Pokémon Stadium, while the international release corresponded to an expanded version sometimes described as Pokémon Stadium 1. The game is not the same as Pokémon Stadium 2, which supported the second-generation games and was released later.
