Which Nintendo console hosted the Japan-only Pocket Monsters Stadium in 1998?

The story behind the answer

The Japan-only Pocket Monsters Stadium was released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998.

Released on August 1, 1998, the game brought Pokémon battles into polygonal 3D on Nintendo’s home console. It was developed and published by Nintendo and used a battle system based on the Game Boy Pokémon games.

Pocket Monsters Stadium supported connectivity with Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue through the Transfer Pak. However, only 40 of the original games’ 151 Pokémon could be used in its battles, a limitation linked to the game’s development and technical constraints.

The title was not released outside Japan. A later, expanded game was released internationally as Pokémon Stadium, while its Japanese title was Pokémon Stadium 2. This naming difference makes the original Japan-only game easy to confuse with the better-known international release.
