Which Nintendo 64 game let players photograph Pokémon in natural environments?

The story behind the answer

Pokémon Snap is the Nintendo 64 game that lets players photograph Pokémon in natural environments.

Instead of directly capturing Pokémon, players control Todd Snap, a photographer who travels through courses on rails in a vehicle called the ZERO-ONE. The goal is to observe Pokémon, take photographs, and submit them to Professor Oak for evaluation.

The game was developed by HAL Laboratory and Pax Softnica and published by Nintendo. It was released in Japan in March 1999 and later launched in North America and Europe. Its courses include beaches, tunnels, rivers, caves, and other habitats containing Pokémon from the original generation.

Pokémon Snap is distinct from Pokémon Stadium, which focuses on battles in three-dimensional arenas. Its photography concept later continued with New Pokémon Snap for Nintendo Switch, released in 2021.
