Which Nike subsidiary owns the Converse All Star sneaker brand?

The story behind the answer

Converse is the Nike subsidiary that owns the Converse All Star sneaker brand.

Nike acquired Converse in 2003 for approximately $305 million. Converse had been founded in 1908 and became especially famous for the Chuck Taylor All Star, a canvas basketball shoe that developed into a broad lifestyle and cultural icon.

The acquisition added a historic footwear label to Nike’s portfolio while allowing Converse to retain its own identity, product lines, and branding. Converse products are therefore associated with Nike as a corporate owner, but they do not usually carry Nike’s Swoosh on the outside.

The Converse All Star and the Nike Air Force 1 are sometimes grouped together because both are influential casual sneakers. They are distinct products from separate brands. Converse’s best-known name is the Chuck Taylor All Star, while Nike remains the parent company.
