Which newspaper did Fyodor Dostoevsky edit in 1873?

The story behind the answer

Fyodor Dostoevsky edited the newspaper The Citizen in 1873.

The publication, known in Russian as Grazhdanin, was a conservative weekly associated with Prince Vladimir Meshchersky. Dostoevsky served as editor for part of 1873, making the position one of his most visible journalistic roles.

During this period he began publishing installments of A Writer’s Diary, a mixture of commentary, literary criticism, reportage, and fictional sketches. The work later became closely associated with his public voice and political opinions.

The Citizen is easy to confuse with Time and Epoch, journals that Dostoevsky edited or co-edited with his brother Mikhail earlier in his career. It is also distinct from The Russian Messenger, which serialized several of his major novels.
