Answer
One Times Square
Answer
One Times Square
One Times Square displays the Times Square New Year's Eve ball.
One Times Square is the tower at the southern end of Times Square in Manhattan. The New York Times moved into the building in 1905, and the surrounding area became known as Times Square. The newspaper's New Year's Eve celebration helped establish the building as the location of the annual ball drop.
The ball descends from a flagpole near the top of One Times Square during the final minute of December 31. Although the event is often described simply as the “Times Square ball drop,” the building itself is the specific landmark from which the ball is lowered.
The New York Times later moved away, but the name Times Square and the midnight tradition remained. The building has undergone redevelopment and changes in its signage over the years, while continuing to serve as the visual centerpiece of the celebration.
