Which Nebraska city hosts Berkshire Hathaway's corporate headquarters? Omaha is the answer. Berkshire Hathaway lists its executive offices at 3555 Farnam Street in Omaha, Nebraska, making the city the company’s recognized corporate base.
The company’s roots stretch back to textile manufacturing in New England, but Warren Buffett gradually transformed Berkshire after taking control in the 1960s. Under Buffett, the business became a holding company with insurance, railroad, energy, manufacturing, retail, and investment interests. Despite owning companies across the United States and abroad, Berkshire has kept its headquarters in Buffett’s hometown.
Omaha is closely associated with Berkshire because the city hosts the company’s annual shareholder meeting, popularly called “Woodstock for Capitalists.” That event draws tens of thousands of investors and fans. A common mix-up is confusing Berkshire’s Omaha headquarters with the locations of its operating businesses, such as BNSF Railway’s Fort Worth headquarters or GEICO’s Chevy Chase base.
