Answer
Amazing Stories
Answer
Amazing Stories
Amazing Stories was the NBC anthology series created by Steven Spielberg that premiered in 1985.
The series first aired on September 29, 1985, and blended fantasy, science fiction, horror, comedy, and drama in self-contained episodes. Spielberg served as creator and executive producer, while the opening theme was composed by John Williams. The title paid homage to Amazing Stories, the pioneering science-fiction magazine first published in 1926.
Several prominent filmmakers and actors worked on the show. Episodes were directed or written by figures such as Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, Martin Scorsese, and Joe Dante, and the cast included Kevin Costner, Kiefer Sutherland, and Mark Hamill. Spielberg also directed the premiere episode, “Ghost Train.”
Night Gallery and The Twilight Zone were anthology programs, but they predated this series and were not Spielberg creations. Tales from the Crypt premiered later, in 1989. Amazing Stories ran for two seasons, ending in 1987, and received 12 Emmy nominations, winning five.
