Which national park contains Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was adopted and America250's story begins?
Answer
Independence National Historical Park
Answer
Independence National Historical Park
Independence National Historical Park contains Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was adopted and America250’s story begins.
The park is a federally protected historic district in Philadelphia. Its centerpiece, Independence Hall, was the meeting place where the Second Continental Congress debated and adopted the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
The park also includes the Liberty Bell Center, Congress Hall, Carpenters’ Hall, Franklin Court, and other sites connected with the American Revolution and the founding of the United States. For that reason, it is often called “America’s most historic square mile.”
Independence Hall is not itself the name of the park. That distinction is a common source of confusion: Independence Hall is the historic building, while Independence National Historical Park is the larger National Park Service site surrounding it and preserving related landmarks.
