Answer
Apollo 11
Answer
Apollo 11
Apollo 11 carried the first humans to land on the Moon in July 1969.
NASA launched Apollo 11 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on July 16, 1969. The crew consisted of commander Neil Armstrong, command module pilot Michael Collins, and lunar module pilot Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin. Armstrong and Aldrin descended to the lunar surface in the module Eagle, while Collins remained in lunar orbit aboard Columbia.
The landing occurred on July 20, 1969, in the Moon’s Sea of Tranquility. Armstrong became the first person to step onto the lunar surface, followed shortly afterward by Aldrin. The astronauts conducted experiments, collected lunar samples, and deployed scientific instruments before returning to orbit.
Apollo 11 splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on July 24, 1969. It was the first of six Apollo missions to land astronauts on the Moon. Apollo 12 followed in November 1969, while Apollo 13’s landing attempt was aborted after an oxygen-tank explosion. Apollo 17, in December 1972, remains the most recent crewed lunar landing.
